QUESTIONS

About the shed designer

Is Make My Shed free to use?

Yes. You can change the shed dimensions, roof, openings and timber specification, inspect the frame and view the generated schedule without an account.

Are the timber quantities calculated from the 3D model?

They come from the same semantic timber members used to build the 3D frame, including studs, plates, noggins, opening timbers, floor members and roof structure.

Can I design a custom shed size?

Yes. Choose Custom for the footprint or eaves and enter dimensions in millimetres. Popular UK sizes are provided as quick starting points.

Does the schedule include cladding and fixings?

Not yet. It is a structural timber schedule. Sheet goods, cladding, membranes, roof coverings, fixings, glazing and foundation materials need adding to the final bill.

Does the designer prove planning permission or structural compliance?

No. It provides design guidance and height prompts. Check your site, use, spans, exposure, planning position and Building Regulations with the relevant authority or a competent professional.

What is the difference between pitched and apex?

They refer to the same two-slope roof in this project. The designer uses pitched internally, while the content pages use apex because that is the common UK shed-search term.
